Sensory playroom - Beadnell Mother and Baby Unit, Morpeth
Beadnell Mother and Baby Unit at St. George's Park is a specialist regional facility for women experiencing mental health difficulties in the antenatal or postnatal period. The ward provides specialist treatment for a range of disorders and offers a wide range of interventions to promote recovery.
The team are looking to develop a sensory playroom for mother, babies and their families to use during their admission. We hope that the new sensory room will offer a safe and relaxing space, to help promote a feeling of comfort, containment and stress regulation. We would like the room to have sensory lights, equipment to play soothing music, different sensory equipment, comfortable seating and aroma diffusers.
Voyage to Recovery - Early Intervention in Psychosis service, Newcastle and Gateshead
Over the past few years, service users recovering from psychosis, and staff from the Early Intervention in Psychosis team, have embarked on an exciting adventure-therapy trip, sailing a tall ship from Whitehaven to Glasgow. The experience has been described as 'life changing' by service users, enabling them to develop connections, friendships, new skills and self-confidence.
The service rely on funding from SHINE to make the trip possible. Can you help make this experience possible for years to come?
